Panthic Kar Sewa

With its motto of nishkam (selflessness) and sarbat da bhalla (welfare of all), Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha has planned, managed and completed multiple large-scale construction assignments. This included the heritage, conservation and beautification of the 5 Takhats (seats of spiritual and temporal sovereignty).

Current Projects

Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib​

Location: Amritsar, Punjab

Date of Phase 1: 1995-1999

Date of Phase 2: 2022-present

Project details:

Historic entire external gold gilding of Sri Darbar Sahib and its Darshani Diori was completed between 1995 and 1999.

Heritage Conservation and restoration of the internal Gold plating and fresco work began in 2022

Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib

Location: Anandpur, Punjab

Date of Phase 1: 1997-1999

Date of Phase 2: 2004-2010

Date of Phase 3: 2022-present

Project details:

Phase I included an ingenious enlargement of the Takhat Sahib by ten metres, supported on colossal RC columns. Also construction of two identical Darshani Dioris, a new foot bridge and parshaad cubicles.

Phase II included the construction of a new three storey Langar hall complex for preparation and serving of the Guru’s Langar to some five thousand pilgrims at a time.

In 2022, GNNSJ began phase III; the construction, renovation and rationalisation of the vicinity of Takhat Sahib.

Takhat Sachkand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib

Location: Nanded, Maharashtra

Date of Phase 1: 2002

Date of Phase 2: 2023-present

Project details:

In 2002, GNNSJ completed the beautification of the Sanctum Sanctorium and Guru’s Darbar with gold gilding and fresco painting.

Since 2023, GNNSJ has begun the internal restoration of the Takhat.

Ik Oankar Mool Mantar Asthan

Location: Sultanpur Lodhi, Punjab

Date of project: 2018-present

Project details:

Construction of a new ‘Ik Oankar Mool Mantar Asthan’, a museum complex to lovingly commemorate the 550th Parkash Purb or birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji (1469-2019) on the site of Gurudwara Sant Ghat, Sultanpur Lodhi, Punjab, India. It is hoped that visitors to the ‘Ik Oankar Mool Mantar Asthan’ will learn from the life and legacy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji especially through the divine updesh given before, during and after the four melancholy travels.

Takhat Sri Harmandir Sahib

Location: Patna, Bihar

Date of Phase 1: 2012-2016

Date of Phase 2: 2016-2022

Project details:

Between 2021 and 2016, GNNSJ completed the beautification of the Sanctum Sanctorium and Guru’s Darbar. Demolition and construction of new peripheral buildings included providing basement underground car-parking. Phase II of the Kar Sewa works comprises planning, designing and constructing the entire south side of the Takhat’s outer complex. The basic scope of work includes: i) Multi-purpose Salas Rai Jori Diwan Hall. ii) Extension of underground car parking facilities. iii) Construction of new peripheral accommodation buildings. iv) Creation of other administrative spaces

Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib

Location: Bhatinda, Punjab

Date of project: 2007-2009

Project details:

Construction of a new ten-sided elevated courtyard over compacted two metre high earth filling, with 10 prayer rooms at each corner, providing unified courtyard to three isolated structures: Baba Deep Singh Ji’s Burj, Takhat Sahib, and Damdama Sahib building. Also providing purpose-built Jathedar’s residence and 21 small residences for Nihangs.

Sri Akal Takhat Sahib

Location: Amritsar, Punjab

Date of project: 1995-1999

Project details:

GNNSJ  supplied reinforcement steel for the rebuilding of the Akal Takhat Sahib. It was one of five assigned Kar Sewa organisations (with Baba Utam Singh Ji of Kadur Sahib). 

Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Sheetal Kund

Location: Rajghir, Bihar

Project details:

In 2018 the Patna Takhat Committee of Sri Harimandir Ji, Patna Sahib, Bihar, India requested GNNSJ to undertake the Kar Sewa of Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Sheetal Kund in Rajgir, Bihar, India. Rajgir is approximately 120 kms from Patna Sahib, Bihar, India

Bhai Kanaihya Ji Asthan

Location: Aduti Sahib, Mohiwal, Punjab

Preservation of original ‘baulies’ - natural spring water enclosures - and Bhai Kanaihya Ji’s ‘Tap Asthaan’. Construction of the first ever Gurudwara and Langar hall dedicated to the memory of Bhai Kanaihya Ji

Gurudwara Charan Kanwal Sahib

Location: Banga, Punjab
